Ellen Martin Photography

On exhibit now in our dining room

Ellen has operated a photography studio in Lexington, VA for over 20 years. Her fine art photography is exhibited throughout the Valley, and she has won many awards, including first place in photography at the Bath County Art Show in 2015 and 2016. â€‹â€‹

These are limited-edition platinum-palladium and color photographs. Ellen utilizes a popular 1800's technique to create her photographs. They are made from the salts of platinum and palladium, which are resistant to oxidation and are embedded into the fibers of the paper during the printing process. This technique produces a one-of-a-kind print. Emulsions are hand-mixed and hand-brushed onto a sheet of paper just prior to use, creating a one of a kind print.

Color may vary depending on several factors such as proportions of platinum to palladium in the emulsion, temperature, and humidity.
